comparing ourselves to ourselves confidence boost resistance unstoppable women Dec 13, 2021

Welcome to Week #46

What whispers did you hear from #45

Can you believe how many Lego combinations!!

Had any in-sights recently?

What value did you get from a mistake you made?

Have you felt the summer within you yet?

What’s struck me this week?

1. Unstoppable Women Glin Bayley

Earlier this month I interviewed Glin Bayley on the Freedom Fridays podcast. I kept revisiting the conversation and what struck me was Glin’s way of being. Despite sharing some fairly traumatic experiences she was light in energy, positive in forward focus and a general delight to be in a conversation with.

I thought I would share her Heart of Human® framework with you below.

2. Keep a rainy day folder

I liked this idea I saw on LinkedIn. The idea being to store for later some positive and uplifting messages and notes for when you need a little boost.

When was the last time you sent someone else a little boost? As Amy Schultz said “maybe your note will be the first one they store in their folder”.

3. Question of the week - Are you comparing yourself to who you were last week?

I’m sure many of us suffer a little (or a lot) from the demons of comparison. Sometimes comparison can help us, sometimes it can defeat us.

To help shift the focus perhaps ask yourself the question above. What’s shifted since last week? What’s better, different, lighter, heavier since last week?

Comparing ourselves to ourselves over a variety of time periods is a growth mindset practice.

4. Quote of the week - "We can’t see the gift in what we resist" Sarah Blondin

I listen to Sarah Blondin’s guided meditations regularly. There’s always a line or two that touch me based on what I’m going through at the time. This one struck me this week.

I was resisting something and then paused to see what gift there might be in my resistance. It helped me see how my thinking was partially responsible for the resisting. The thought process helped me get perspective and it lightened the heaviness of the situation.

How about you – what’s the gift in what you’re resisting?

5. Freedom Fridays Podcast

My weekly conversation with ordinary people doing extraordinary things. We explore some of the big changes people have gone through and what’s helped the journey. The intention is to share as openly as possible some of the ingredients – the good, the bad, the ugly – that shape our shift from ‘I have to’ into ‘I choose to’. The lessons are hiding in open sight within the conversation – it’s up to you how you apply them.

This week is Part #2 of the chat with Glin Bayley founder of Heart of Human, author and host of the Unstoppable Woman podcast and 8-week online life changer. In this episode we focus on women in leadership and how it differs from leadership generally; how to listen from your heart and Glin’s Heart of Human™ framework. Glin shares her experience of how our emotions are a guidance system and embracing the messiness of life with active hope.
