Welcome to Week #53

I’m here for Nick Edwards & Loren Allred

One of our family rituals is to watch some of the talent shows on TV and get inspired by the human stories behind some of the raw talent.

On many occasions, the person auditioning has been developing their talent behind closed doors and hidden from sight.

That’s where Nick & Loren come in. Both with raw talent and were unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight. Both were contestants on Britain’s Got Talent. Both were hiding in plain sight as to their talent… because they didn’t believe or expect anyone else to believe they were good enough. Both got the chance to step into the spotlight and share their talent.

As I watched their performances I felt touched, not just by their talent, but by their story – who am I to think I’m good enough? I observe that belief on far too many occasions. So, I’m here for the likes of Nick & Loren. People who have something to say, something to give, something to share but don’t quite believe in themselves enough (yet!) to say, give or share it. My purpose is to unconditionally support – from near or far – the Nick’s and Loren’s of the world who would welcome a little helping hand.

If you need someone to believe in you? I’ve got your back. Who are you here for?

If it’s out of our hands it deserves freedom from our minds too – Ivan Nuru

Loved this when I first read it. Great reminder to focus on the controllables. To focus on what we can control and influence not what we can’t.

So, if it’s out of your control can you grant it freedom from your mind too? Go on, you know you can. Remember, I’ve got your back too 😊

Question of the week: How long do you want that to be true?

This is a question I use on a regular basis and it sometimes causes a little disturbance in the brain of the person I’m in conversation with (I can see the look on their face!).

It creates a disturbance because of the assumptions loaded into the question – can you spot them? So, when something isn’t going your way or there’s a barrier to your progress take a moment to ponder this disturbing question.

If the answer is forever (which I wouldn’t believe) I’m not sure I can help you. If that answer is “I don’t know…” then we can make a start.

Quote of the week: "Maybe you’ve always been happy, but the world, social media and external comparisons have convinced you that you can’t possibly be" Jim Kwik

We know comparison is the thief of joy. If you stopped for a moment and could set aside the comparison to everything else I wonder if it would increase or decrease your sense of happiness?

Nothing wrong with using comparison to nudge you higher but if you can put it in the passenger seat then perhaps you can enjoy moments of comparison-free happiness.
