Two military parents embrace with a young child in a heartfelt reunion, symbolising family connection and reunion energy

I have a guilty scrolling secret.

If I feel a little ‘meh’, I scroll a few family reunion reels.

If you’ve ever watched them, you’ll know.

The raw emotion. The gasp. The tears. The laughter. The way two people run toward each other like magnets finally being allowed to click together.

It’s a reminder about what’s really important.

Not my to-do list. Not my inbox. Not my next client. Not my next ‘thing’.

It’s about deep-seated connection.

It’s about unconditional belonging.

It’s about generational love.

It struck me that the intensity of those reunions is only possible because of the separation beforehand.

Distance creates longing.

Absence creates space for presence to matter more.

It made me wonder:

> Who are the people I might take for granted because I see them often?

> Do I greet them with the same energy and joy as if they’d just returned after a long absence?

> What might shift if I did?

Because we don’t always need a long absence to create reunion energy.
We can choose to bring that magnetic pull, that sense of delight, into the everyday moments too.

So perhaps today, when you next see someone you care about, you could greet them as if they’d just returned from a long journey.

Notice what changes in you. Notice what changes in them.

Reunion energy doesn’t need to be saved for the big moments. It can be lived daily.

If nothing else it’ll stimulate a conversation or at the very least generate some laughter.
