Magnifying glass over a wooden block with a lightbulb, surrounded by question mark blocks - symbolising the search for insight

We all want the magic, the clarity, the shortcut.

But too often, we go searching in places that are clean and safe - or we dip our toes in the messy ones without staying long enough to find what we’re actually looking for.

We want…

the results without the risk of uncertainty; the insight without the stillness of mind and body; the connection without the courage to reveal; the growth without the discomfort of change; the freedom without the discipline it requires; the life we want without the weight of 100% responsibility; the success without the sacrifice of ease and comfort; the intimacy without the risk of being misunderstood;

But maybe:

The magic you're looking for is in the work you're avoiding” a quote I read recently from Dipen Parmar.

And perhaps the magic you’re looking for is in the playfulness you’re avoiding or the places you’re avoiding or the conversations you’re avoiding.

Perhaps the success you're seeking is in the failure you’re scared to face.

Perhaps the answers you crave are in the silence you fill too quickly.

Perhaps the connection you long for is on the other side of vulnerability.

Perhaps the clarity you’re chasing is in the uncertainty you won’t sit with.

Perhaps the strength you admire is built through the struggle you keep avoiding.

Perhaps the purpose you’re waiting for is hidden in the risks you’re too afraid to take.

Perhaps the insight you’re searching for is in the stillness you fill with busyness.

Perhaps the truth you need is in the space you rush to occupy.

Perhaps the next step is waiting in the pause you keep skipping past.

Perhaps the intimacy you miss is behind the walls you’ve built to feel safe.

Perhaps the belonging you seek begins with sharing what you’ve never said aloud.

Avoidance isn’t always laziness, sometimes it’s protection.

Sometimes it’s perfectly acceptable and necessary...and sometimes it’s not.

It’s the unconscious voice that says:

“If I really show up, I might be seen.”

“If I really try, I might fail.”

“If I really open up, I might get hurt.”

“If I slow down, I might hear something I’m not ready for.”

But here’s the whisper:

What you’re avoiding might just be the doorway to what you’ve been searching for.

So, this week, sit gently with the questions:

- What am I avoiding right now?

- What am I protecting myself from – that might be the very thing I need to face?

- If I turned toward it - even just a little - what might I discover?

- What truth have I been too busy to hear?

- What part of me wants to be seen, but is afraid to show up?

You don’t need to fix it all today.

But maybe today, you stop running.

Maybe today, you walk toward it with soft eyes, welcome hands, and an open heart.

And maybe - that’s where the magic begins.
