allowing more into your life creating yourself freedom fridays #56 giving of yourself Aug 07, 2022

Welcome to Weekly Whisper #66.

Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself - George Bernard Shaw

I like this because for me it speaks to life being a series of un/intentional improvements/failings from within, instead of searching for something outside myself. In attempting to find yourself maybe you’re looking in the wrong places? If you were to take a ‘create myself’ perspective I wonder what things you’d do to experiment and find out whether something was a part of you?

Every thought, feeling, action, intention, behaviour et al is creating something. For most, it goes unseen and the impact – however small – unrecognised but the work-in-progress continues. If you can accept that we’re all sewn-up bags of imperfection walking around falling in and out of experiments then I wonder what you’d do the same or different to create yourself?

How have you un/intentionally created yourself so far? What are you happy with? Not so happy with? Who could you surround yourself with in order to create a different self?

You give little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give - Kahlil Gibran

Many times over the last couple of years I’ve been asked why and how I post so much material online. I rarely hear of the impact any of what I share has – large or small. When I do it fuels me to continue. Why? Because I’ll never know when someone needs to hear their whisper. I’ll never know what’s really going on for someone when they connect with the message. I’ll never know the impact any of what I share actually has – immediate, longer-term, or zero!

So, I keep writing and sharing…just in case. I keep writing and sharing of myself… just in case. I keep giving of myself, turning up on a weekly basis for whoever needs to hear the message of that week. I’m also writing from a perspective of “I’m doing this work too…”. So in that sense, I’m giving of myself.

How do I do it? By sometimes forcing myself to start and just begin. By sometimes forcing myself to write what’s on my mind or what I’m pondering or bewildered with this week! Some weeks are easier than others given my bandwidth but I feel it’s important – at the very least – to turn up anyway. Some of the content is better than others – my own judgment. Sometimes it’s unfiltered and not well thought through. Either way, I’m still here. Sharing, working, listening, holding.

So, what inspires you to share of yourself? How often do you show up to do so?

Question of the week:
What would you be willing to allow more of in your life?

For me this is a very easy thing to ask but so much harder to live. Immediate things come to mind like – unconditional love and acceptance, space between the pace, adventure and fun, insight, connection. Soooo many things it feels hard to choose.

Maybe the key is to ‘allow’ not force? Maybe if I was just ‘willing to allow’ and see what showed up I could determine some more conscious choice. So, for you – what are you willing to allow?

Quote of the week:
All the benefits in life come from compound interest – relationships, money, habits, anything of importance - Naval Ravikant

What are you compounding right now? Is there a whisper you’re not hearing?

Compounding can sometimes feel slow but it is compounding!
