#49

getting what you want mindset recovery and renewal whispers Jan 03, 2022

Welcome to Week #49

What whispers did you hear from #48?

Have you found ways to actively recover?

Are you still too busy to give your growth a chance?

What have you learnt about yourself in answering the question what have you learnt about yourself!

What sort of life are you wishing for?

What’s struck me this week?

1. What whisper have you heard this year?

I’m proud that I’ve turned up consistently week after week sharing whispers. Thank you for reading and taking some of the content to heart.

I believe we tend to act and adjust our path based on what shouts at us not necessarily what whispers. So, over to you – of the #49 weekly whispers I’ve produced which one shouted? What story resonated to the point you did something different? What question disrupted your thinking and caused you to adjust your own path? What quote piqued your interest? What whisper did you hear as a shout?

2. Recover and re-fresh before renewal

For many it’s been an exhausting year. So much noise, so many tasks to get done, so many people to please. It’s critical that we take some time for ourselves. Time to fill our own cup. Time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the ugly of 2021.

Every year I tweak the process that I use to create space and time for reflection and renewal.

3. Question of the week - What would it feel like if you got what you really wanted?

A podcast guest of mine found himself pondering this question. When he shared the question it really resonated with me because he was willing to sit with the question and go beyond the obvious – it would feel good; I’d feel happy etc. He was willing to give himself space - without knowing if an answer would come – and allow his mind to consider what he really wanted and the subsequent feeling – what, where, how, how often etc.

So, how about you for 2022 – what would it feel like if you got what you really wanted?

4. Quote of the week - "Is what you’re doing worth what it’s doing to you?"

I’ve observed over the course of this year that my busy-ness is in part a pattern of my own work ethic. I work hard – because that’s what my generation believe will make them successful. I continually tweak my approach – because that’s what will make people like and love me. I struggle to settle – because my story of optimising potential runs deep and unconscious.

These holidays I’m taking some time out to consider the question above.

5. Freedom Fridays Podcast

My weekly conversation with ordinary people doing extraordinary things. We explore some of the big changes people have gone through and what’s helped the journey. The intention is to share as openly as possible some of the ingredients – the good, the bad, the ugly – that shape our shift from ‘I have to’ into ‘I choose to’. The lessons are hiding in open sight within the conversation – it’s up to you how you apply them.

For my final recording of the year I’ve gone back to a solo recording. I share some reflections about the year – from starting ugly to continuing ugly. From the uniqueness of everyone’s story to the doubt people have about having any sort of story at all. From turning up every week for a year to taking a pause to reflect on what next. Finally, I share some reflections from my guests about how they felt seen, heard and held during the conversation and how that gap has arisen for me.

That's all for this week and I hope you enjoyed Weekly Whisper #49.

Cheers

Pete
